United Heritage Credit Union (UHCU) is looking for a hands-on HR Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations by providing HR Generalist advice and support to our managers and employees throughout our organization.

This is a newly created position that will work under the direction of the VP of Human Resources, and will be responsible for managing a direct team of 3 individuals on our 5 person HR team. Our desired candidate will have expertise and business acumen in a variety of HR domains and will bring new ideas and resources to the table to meet department objectives and drive organizational change.

The operational day-to-day tasks are focused on recruitment, payroll and benefits administration, employee relations issues, and responding to manager and employee inquiries/cases.

The administrative function of the position focuses on dealing with compliance issues and record keeping; administering and formulating human resources policies, facilitating effective resolution with carriers and vendors, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating and managing HR team.

Strategic components of the role include creating processes that support organization objectives and coaching management for effectiveness in a variety of situations.


Here's what you can expect day to day...

Payroll Administration

  • Manages the bi-weekly payroll function by assisting HR staff with the processing of employee payroll, auditing and ensuring payroll is accurate.
  • Assist in the resolution of payroll issues by researching problems and applying mastery of payroll principles to find solutions.

Talent Acquisition

  • Provides direction and support to the Talent Acquisition Specialist in the full life cycle of recruiting for both internal and external candidates; may include but not limited to; screening resumes, scheduling interviews, administering candidate assessments, submitting background checks, speaking with references provided, preparing and sending offer letters and other candidate communications.
  • Utilize creative and professional recruitment methods to identify and recruit top-performing candidates, engaging in tactical and strategic sourcing methods.
  • Coaches hiring managers on selection strategy and effective interviewing techniques.

Benefits Administration

  • Evaluate and ensure benefit plans are administered consistently and in accordance with plan documents, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. 
  • Act as liaison between all benefit providers and the Credit Union, managing the full life cycle of the Open Enrollment Process.
  • Assist VP of HR in managing leave programs including FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, STD, and LTD.
  • Manages annual ACA reporting requirements including PCORI fees, form 1095-C, form 1094-C and all other related forms.

Employee Relations

  • Assists VP of HR in providing employee relations support to management. Will also assist with the exit interview process and interviews when needed.

HR Operations

  • Complete special projects as requested by the VP of HR.
  • Assist VP of HR with reviewing and updating job descriptions for positions in the Credit Union; work with Managers to ensure information is kept up-to-date and accurate. Perform market salary analysis on positions and provide recommendations to the VP of HR on pay for positions and salary grade.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect and professionalism.
  • Travel to other branches and work locations within the Austin and Tyler area is required based on business need.

The Requirements:

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR generalist experience with at least 2 in an HR Manager level role in a variety of HR domains including; recruiting for multiple hiring managers and positions, benefits administration, employee relations, leaves of absence, full cycle payroll processing and a proven record of designing, implementing and administering human resources programs, policies, and processes required.
  • Minimum of 2 years full cycle payroll processing experience serving 175+ employees required.  Experience processing payroll with ADP Workforce Now 13 preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-cycle corporate recruiting experience with management and exempt level positions in a business professional environment required. Experience with recruiting in the financial services, banking, or credit union industry is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience in recruiting using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) required.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRMCP/SCP certification preferred.
