The Share Draft Payment Specialist works as part of a cross functional team to deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers by providing support, including but not limited to processing return drafts, stop payment orders, share draft rejects and line of credit overdrafts.  You will complete member requests for share draft copies, forgery claims, questions concerning share draft accounts, and automatic authorizations.  You will be responsible for returning unpaid items to the clearing house by daily deadline, as well as processing shared branch settlements and adjustments.    


As a Share Draft Payment Specialist with UHCU you'll get to:

  • Download and process the daily share draft file, post any manual clearings and return unpaid items to the bank of first deposit through Fedline.
  • Process stop payment orders, forgery claims, photocopy requests, draft collection items and clearing differences.
  • Close excessive NSF accounts. Maintain files, report to credit agencies.
  • Track NSF payment arrangements and make collection calls.
  • Balance daily shared branch settlements, process shared branch adjustments and communicate with other shared branching credit unions to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist members with account information.
  • Post general ledger entries.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts and practices.
  • The ability to research and reconcile accounts.
  • Experience in the banking and financial services industry.
  • The ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

The Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1 year of financial institution and customer service experience.  
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciling, and balancing techniques in financial institutions preferred.
  • Proficiency in share draft processing preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
